What Are All Those Pretty Industrial Arcade Buttons?
Kontrol Master provides 10 buttons and ALL the buttons can be programmed to execute or fire custom actions like:
• Send keystroke (single keyboard key press).
• Send Hotkeys/ Shortcut Keys.
• Send MIDI CC events.
• Move your mouse through multi monitors setup.
• Act as SHIFT, Kontrol Master provides 2 assignable shifts, using this feature you can reach a combination up to 24 different actions.
• Indicate to the device if the object you want to control with the knob is, horizontal, circular or vertical.
OUT OF THE BOX
However the device comes from the factory with pre-programmed buttons actions. These are common popular functions so let's look at those:
1. Knob control.
The Knob on the device allows to you to control different objects. The procedure is very simple, just hover the mouse pointer over the object to be controlled , select with the white buttons on KM (button 2, 3 & 4) if object you want control is vertical, circular or horizontal, then turn the knob. When finished, release the knob and move the mouse to any other object you need control and repeat the procedure.
In the below video you can see an example using Ableton Live DAW software, moving vertical, circular and horizontal objects. These actions are performed with no MIDI map!
2. Left white button.
HORIZONTAL, this action is used to indicate to the Kontrol Master the object you want control with the knob is a horizontal object, like horizontal slider, switch, slide bar, etc.
3. Center white button.
CIRCULAR, this action is used to indicate to the Kontrol Master the object you want control with the knob is a circular object, like a knob, dial, jog wheel, etc.
4. Right white button.
VERTICAL, this action is used to indicate to the Kontrol Master the object you want control with the knob is a vertical object, like a slider, switch, slide bar, etc.
5. Red button.
This button comes from the factory programmed with Shortcut Keys, “SHIFT + 1”.
6. Blue button.
This button comes from the factory programmed with Shortcut Keys, “SHIFT + 2”.
7. Green button.
This button comes from the factory programmed with Shortcut Keys, “SHIFT + 3”.
8 & 9. Left and right orange buttons.
These buttons handle the “frame relative” mouse transport feature in a multiple monitor work environment. This feature allows you to quickly move your mouse through multiple monitors without the hassle of dragging your mouse and losing it in the process. If you press the orange left button the mouse pointer jumps to your left monitor of your setup, if you press the right orange button, the mouse jumps to right monitor of your multi display setup.
If you work in a single monitor environment, you can reprogram these buttons to perform any other action.
10 & 11. Left and right yelow buttons.
These buttons come from factory as SHIFT 1 and SHIFT 2 and they provide the ability to fire different actions from a single button, as an example, pressing the red button sends Shortcut Keys “SHIFT + 1”.
If you press SHIFT 1 + RED BUTTON, then the unit sends the Shortcut Keys “SHIFT + 4”
If you press SHIFT 2 + RED BUTTON, then the unit sends the Shortcut Keys “CTRL + z”
